Now I wouldn't call myself a real stickler for the rules or anything...but after about 3 solid years of roleplaying experience as both an administrator and a normal member I think that the following rules are fair. Please do not argue with me or any of the other staff about them and be respectful of the fact that this is our site and so it is our decision as to what is and what isn't. Of course we will allow you to make your case, but only if you treat us with the same respect that you feel you are entitled to. The golden rule, my friends, is always the best policy.
General Site Code of Conduct
1) Be respectful to the staff at all times. Fight with me in threads, not real life or I will--absolutely no jokes--bite you.
2) No out-of-character feuds. I despise that stuff. This is just a game. Games are supposed to be about fun and making friends, not trying to one-up each other or try and prove something that, believe me, no one actually cares about anyway. You want to have an ego war? Do it on some other site.
3) Be active. My opinion is.. if you're going to go to all the trouble of filling out one of those applications that I so very much despise filling out myself, then you should make just as much of an effort to post and develop your character. No pain, no gain. If you're not active, I and my staff have the right to delete your account and/or discourage you from picking up any other dead weight accounts. Take on what you can handle.
*1st Post Rule: You must post in-character within two weeks of your acceptance. *Overall activity rule: If you do not give fair warning in the departure thread and don't post for three weeks we will assume you have moved on or forgotten about us.
4) In order to join a proboards forum/site you must be at least 13 years old. Any younger and you can't be here. I'm sorry, you could be the most mature 12 year-old ever but I couldn't let you roleplay here. Come back in a year.
5) Keep signature banners an appropriate size and no animated characters may be used. I like anime but when everyone else here prefers to use real people (haha, celebrities are real?) it looks kind of weird to have someone with pupils the size of quarters walking around.
6)You are allowed 3 characters. *exceptions can be made, ask an admin
For 2nd Character; 1st character must have 25 posts. For 3rd Character; 1st character must have 50 posts, 2nd must have 30.
Posting Code of Conduct
Do's
1) Write in 3rd person. 2) Posts must be at least 10 sentences. 3) Put out-of-character messages in in-character posts in brackets and keep it to a minimum. 4) Follow the plotline.
Don'ts
1) Godmoding = unhappy Me. Don't do it. 2) Spamming. Super annoying and easy way to get yourself pelted with cans of oddly-shaped processed meat. 3) No cyber-speak. I expect proper grammar and spelling. 4) No Mary Sue's or Gary Stu's. Humans have flaws. 5) You are not allowed to post in-character before you are accepted. And don't harass staff about accepting you either. We will get to it as soon as we are able.
Character Code of Conduct
1) All weird stuff must be approved by staff prior to application.
2) Only psychokinetic stuff accepted. No Frodo's (LOTR) or Elphaba's (Wicked) or Kagome's (Inuyasha), okay? These characters have their own sites.
3) Not everyone will love you or think you're pretty. Get used to it, real world's like that too unless you actually look like the people we're using for our faces on this site. In your applications you may say, "Jill thinks that she's pretty" but not "Everyone thinks Jill is pretty" or "Most people say Jill has eyes that twinkle like starlight and boobs that are perfectly symmetric".
4) No wrist cutters. This is a pg-13 rating site and so I choose not to allow content of that sort here. I understand that the world sucks and there actually are kids out there that wish they could take themselves out of it but its too sad and heavy to include it here. There are young folks here and I'd prefer not to have them exposed to it any more than they already have been.
5) Gay/Lesbian/Bisexual characters are allowed but not all of you can be one. That's almost impossible. It's about as probable as everyone in the school being straight.
6) Keep it clean. Don't write anything you wouldn't be embarrassed to have your little brother or sister read. No graphic sex (though intercourse may be implied between characters with the consent of both parties) and keep cursing reasonable.
So I guess that is it guys. More rules may be added so check back every once in awhile. Most of all, I want you to use your best judgment here. Be realistic, about as realistic as a school of power endowed people can be.
