Two months ago catastrophe struck San Luis Obispo County, California. The Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant experienced the worst meltdown in history. More puzzling than the cause of the meltdown was the aftermath. Most feared physical deformation and mental retardation, but the virus that quickly spread across the nation was most peculiar. What exactly was going on inside the plant? Some speculated governmental nuclear testing. And what happened to the so-called survivors from within? Rumours of this only died out when the affects of the virus began to show.
While some experienced flu-like symptoms and returned to normal, others had mild to severe brain defects. Still, the worst was yet to come: the psychokinetic effects. Some call the affected superhuman, others call them monsters… but one thing is for sure: general fear has driven these affected humans into hiding.
But there is a refuge. In the remote parts of North Eastern Canada, there is said to have been a school created to harness, and perhaps even cure the effects of the disease. Some have gone looking for it, others have been forced into the journey… either way, they find you. Waking up from what you soon learn is called “the blackout,” you are greeted by Elemental and Noir, your new mentors. The school, Safe Haven, is filled with rumours about who the two are, and why they seem so skilled with these psychokinetic abilities. It is no wonder that the rest of The Exposed are more powerful than The Affected, but the mentors seem to know more. Why is it that they know how to improve the skills bestowed upon them all? And what are these so-called Experiments?
But having found the only place of acceptance, few seem antsy to leave… then again, the desolate surroundings can be a little nerve-wracking. At least there is the ice-cold bay nearby. If only someone knew where they were.
Okay, think X-Men, but without that plot line. Yeah, it's a lot alike. But we wanted something 'original', which would start most everyone off on the same level and accept many ages, and which would be very receptive to original characters.
I know even still the story may seem a little vague, but that's why we've created the mentors, to help guide the story. Hint hint: they know what's going on.
While here you will be put through tests, quests, and experiments which will advance your abilities. (Post count is also going to be beneficial to your advancement.) The school is a growing community, literally and fictionally, and as we progress the story will change around you. A mentor will approach characters about fulfilling roles in the school, and essentially make you a central character. You are the story, we just provided the background and play the two characters who know what the hell was going on at Diablo Canyon... we may also throw in fun little outside events as appropriate to keep things interesting.

The Mentors - Elemental && Noir. They seem to know much more than everyone else, but no one who actually worked at the plant recognize them, or can confirm that they actually worked there.
The Exposed - these are canon character who were at Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant when the meltdown occurred, and they received the strongest dosage. As such, their powers are more advanced. However, they are some of the most dangerous because they are just as uncontrollable as The Affected.
The Affected - those who caught the virus that swept across the nation. These people are all just beginning to experience their abilities and often have trouble controlling them.
