Name: Mutant Wars; The Lost Generations

Plot:(Thus Far, soon to be added to)
”The Mutant Wars of 2025 proved to be too much for the humans. They launched everything they had at us, but we had her. She was the one that saved us and in the end, she too was bound to the fate left by our fore fathers. Still, I wonder, had the Shi’Ar seen this coming?”

The time of the Humans has grown to an end. In the year 2030, the human populas is brought down to barely a weak million. Mutants rule the world, controlling parts of it using Feudal systems and “Clans” to take they power they wish to wield. The war has fallen between two factions; The Destined, led by the powerful Christian McMillian and the Fallen, controlled by Nyros, a dark mutant that has claimed the lives of many.

At the end of 2029, Christian, founded a place called Eden, the Neutral Zone in the old state of Colorado. It was here that the remaining human populas could live and thrive. The Neutral Zone also served as a Meeting Grounds for conflicting Clans to settle their disputes peacefully.

The East Coast was conquered by the power Fallen Clan, ruled over by Nyros, a energy mutant with a sick facination with Roman culture. His world is known as Dark Haven, a sinister place built on top of the old New York area. The streets are overran by darkness, ran by the Lords of Evil, a small fuedal clan under the Fallen.

Westland, or the West Coast, is ran by the Watchers, a clan of Neutrals that want nothing to do with the feuding clans of the Destined and Fallen. The Watchers are ran by Sheena, a mutant with the ability to communicate with Plants and Animals psychically and Aros, her brother, who has wings like a Dragons.

Yet, even the most Neutral can be torn into a battle. As the Fallen wish to push westward towards Eden, the battle lines beome more drawn. Join the battle, claim territory, and build your clan. The Choice is yours. The world is ours, now.

Edd laughed, a grin spreading on his features, that nearly unmovable, almost unbreakable grin. "Well, at least you have a couple! Yay!" he cheered with a extravagant clap. Edd was glad that his friend was making more friends and being social. Not to say anything bad about Cal, but Edd didn't think that he was sociable enough- far from sociable enough, actually. He was about to pipe up, to say his opinion about how "sociable" Cal was when he heard a beeping noise. It was one of his numerous, neon-colored, watches that was mixed in with his other bracelets. "Dear, oh dear," Edd said, his voice accidentally sounding a bit too much like a girl's in his opinion as he checked the time.

"Sorry! I'd really, really hate to leave you right here, but I'm afraid I have to go to a training session now!" Edd said with guilt laced in his voice. Giving a small sigh, he scratched the back of his head, "Maaannn I'm going to have a headache tonight- stupid Telekinesis..." Giving a sigh of annoyance, Edd forced the grin back on. "Well, nothing I can do about it! See ya later Cal!" He gave the taller man a hug, or at least attempted too, before starting to sprint up the road, turning back his head and stopping for a split-second. "Goodbye, again!" Edd said, with a wave of his hand before he continued sprinting.

Gio tried to run.

His breaths came in fast pants and there was a wild, almost desperate look about him. His hair stuck wildly in all directions, as his hands slightly trembled. He tried to control his shaking but found out that he couldn’t. Inwardly, he cursed himself for this display of frailty.

Swallowing the huge lump in his throat, he turned his head to glance behind him. He was being chased again.

The fact was made even more difficult with him staggering and stumbling around the forest like some common drunk. He had been hurt and was bleeding like hell for the past 2 hours or so. The loss of a lot of blood was making him weaker, and the chill that was starting to envelope him was making his legs wobble. He was losing consciousness, the spinning environment around him becoming blurry and hazy. It was beginning to worry him, since he was starting to feel numb. He needed the pain. Pain was good. At least it still signifies that he still had some feeling left. Numbness was another thing

The place was dark, and even if he tried, he wouldn’t be able to see a thing. Only the glowing full moon above him was the source of illumination.

Five, he kept thinking. He was no match for them, he knew. He’d seen 3 of them having powers as well. They were incredibly powerful, unlike the ones that usually chase his trail. Whoever was behind all of this was probably getting annoyed of him slipping through their fingers. They were resorting to drastic measures.

Gio leaned against a tree, cold sweat running down on his face. His heart was beating violently up against his ribcage, as if it were trying to get out of it. He looked up and saw the clear night blessed with thousands of visible stars, and he silently prayed, thinking that if he was indeed going to die, at least he’ll join the ancients up there. A few noises made him snap out of this reverie. They’re getting closer.

Looking over at the horizon, he saw light. People!, he mouthed breathlessly. He couldn’t stop the surge of hope that flowed through him. He took a step forward but found out that his feet wouldn’t follow his command. Instead, he fell on a heap on the ground. He stared in disbelief at his legs. Feeling betrayed by his own body, he grew panicky as he heard one of them shout to another that he could sense Gio in the vicinity. Move, dammit!, he thought frantically. He needed to get away from them. He needed to reach the place in the horizon. Getting frustrated, Gio positioned himself on all fours, crawling as fast as possible with the littlest amount of sound. He licked pale lips gone dry.

Almost there!, he thought. He could hear the pounding of blood in his ears. Unfortunately, his hand made contact with a small, dried branch and it broke into two, making a noise just enough to capture the attention of his pursuers. He stood up quickly, narrowly missing the energy ball that flew by his ear. It exploded a few feet in front of him, clouding up the whole area. The dust particles swirled around him, providing a temporary screen. Quickly dragging his feet behind, with his left hand clutching his ride side, Gio kept his head down, running blindly to wherever his feet would take him.

1000 meters… 800 meters… 700… 500… almost… He could see the form of a huge castle in the background. He picked up his speed, not knowing where the sudden rush of energy was coming from. It’ll be alright. I’m going to be saved.

But a sudden explosion behind him sent him lurching forward into the air. He collided with a huge rock boulder and felt the bones in his body break. He tried pushing himself up, but collapsed almost as if he'd never tried. He crumpled on the ground, feeling the last bit of energy leave his body. No!, his mind shouted. But he was powerless, and knew there was nothing else he could do.

The last thing Gio heard before he passed out was the sound of footsteps coming towards him.

Stats

Full Name: Gio Lorenz
Nickname: Gio, G
Alias: Nope. None yet.
Birthday: April 5, 1981
Age: 27 years old
Power: Terrakinesis & Biological Healing

Personality

Inner:
Gio believes that there are no in-betweens. There are only extremes. Either you’re one of the good guys or you’re one of the bad guys. Wrong or right. Weak or strong.

Because of this thinking, Gio is quick to pass judgment on himself to be on the better end of the continuum. Though far from being a perfectionist, he would push hard to be always excellent and on top of any situation. To be always the best. And when he fails to do this and make the wrong decisions, he’d be furious. Some would say that he’s hard on others, but the truth is, Gio is harder on himself. He’d cover up his insecurities with a mask of indifference or of sarcasm. Deep inside, though, he’s a pretty lonely guy, but he’d rather die than admit this weakness to anyone. That, and his compulsion to protect anyone weaker than him.

Exteriour:
Gio is the type of guy who doesn’t care much for appearances. He looks great in any clothes he wears in, though he seems oblivious to this. He’s good-looking and attractive, but what attracts women to him is his confidence and sureness in what he does. He can do the most difficult thing with ease and fools you into thinking it wasn’t that hard to do (although it was but he’ll never admit to it). He has the need to prove himself to others constantly and would sometimes act without thinking. This would get him into trouble most often than not, but his luck and incredible sense of timing would bail him out of it. He is smart, and at times, deviously cunning, but his morality would prevent him from using his powers to harm or manipulate others. He is extremely distrustful, and his respect is hard to earn. Once you did, though, his loyalty is unwavering.

Gio is anything but shy. He will tell you exactly what is on his mind bluntly, and often, harshly. He has no time for dillydallies or small talks, but would go directly to the point. Impatience had always been one of his more prominent flaws. He is sarcastic if provoked and would reduce a lesser man to nothing with his cutting wit. He can be sometimes cold and cruel, but he is generally one of the heroes.

Appearance

Natural Hair Colour: Dark brown
Eye Colour: Silver-blue
Height: 6’2
General:
Most would have a first impression of Gio as arrogant and egoistic. He always looks as if he has the whole world upon his shoulders. He seldom smiles, the trademark frown on his face more familiar.
Though he doesn't have a body-builder's built, he does have a wide chest, his body lean and athletically-built. His most prominent feature, however, is his eyes. It can go from cold steel from one minute to dancing quick silver the next. His eyes speaks volumes about what he thinks or feels, but he, often, is trying to cover this up.
Desired Celebrity: Gaspard Ulliel

History

Hometown: San Antonio, Texas
Relatives:
George Lorenz- father; dead
Dallas Lorenz- mother; dead
A missing younger sister he’s been trying hard to find, Andrea Lorenz

General:
Gio had his powers for as long as he can remember. It had been an inborn ability. However, as a child, he’d never been able to control fully his powers, and after one particular outburst when he was 7, he had been taken away from his family and subjected to experiments. He was 25, when he had finally mustered up enough strength to escape from the experiment labs. The first place that he thought of was home, but reaching it, his family was gone and the only place that greeted him was the lifeless, desolate ground where once stood a house. The neighbors told him his parents were long dead, but his sister, Andrea, who like him also had powers of her own, was taken. Not long after he had arrived, a few men from the labs arrived. He managed to evade them, but he had been in hiding eversince, knowing fully well that there was a manhunt going on. Running for his safety, while at the same time, searching for his sibling, he came to San Luis Obispo County, California. That was also the same day the Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant melted. Instead of dying from the sheer force of the impact, Gio acquired another ability. This time, the power was too great, that it consumes more than half of his energy just by using it. It was also very erratic, very unstable, and quite uncontrollable, that the first time he accidentally used it, he barely lived. Due to this, he was careful to contain it, more preferring to use his first ability.

By some chance, he had heard that there was a place for those people like him. He decided to come to this Safe Haven he heard so much about.

Role-play Example:

Gabriel entered the establishment, looking every bit like someone straight out of a magazine, instead of someone who actually worked there. He was unaware of the lingering stares he got from the ladies, and the grunts of disapproval from the gents. Of course, he had always been so clueless of how good he looks. He wasn’t the type of guy who’d spend much time and energy on physical appearances. Maybe that was part of his charm---his being ignorant of his effect on the women.
Yes, there had been a lot of come-hither-looks from them, and a lot of sexual innuendos from the strippers in the club, but Gabe had always managed to avoid their advances without sounding like a jerk. He was careful to step on nobody’s toes, finding excuses here and there, but knowing fully well that he’ll soon run out of them. Try as he might though, his resistance and indifference only served to add more to the allure and mystery that was Gabriel Alberts. It only made them double their efforts, making them bolder by the minute. It was enough for a guy to feel uncomfortable working in that place.

Joe Specks, the burly fifty-something-year old cook, would often tell him to get himself a girlfriend. It was a surefire way of fending others off. But Gabriel had laughed himself to tears at the cook’s advice. He told him it was like jumping from one hot cauldron to the next. You get yourself out of one mess, only to find out you’re in another. Besides, the last girlfriend he had was 2 years ago, and even that didn’t turn out well. She had been extremely possessive of him and jealous of any woman who so much as stare at Gabriel for more than 5 seconds. Feeling suffocated, he had decided to end the relationship.

That was before he came to New York.

Now that he’s three months old in the place, he had to adjust to the changes that came his way. Part of that includes dodging advances from much too aggressive women in the workplace. Oh, they were beautiful, no doubt about it. But Gabriel just wasn’t interested.

He proceeded towards the bar, taking off his leather jacket as he made his way there. As he put on his apron, however, he noticed one girl dancing on stage. She was young--- younger than the others, and a lot more gorgeous to boot. She looked preoccupied and a bit…sad, perhaps? Though moving seductively to the music, Gabriel could tell she was hating every minute of what she was doing. There was something in her eyes that speaks of painful experiences too hurtful for lips to talk of. She looked as if she carried the whole world in her small, slim shoulders, and Gabriel couldn’t help the spark of curiosity that she had aroused in him to know what had caused this.

He saw her walked over to him and ordered a vodka tonic, which he had promptly delivered. She was the only one sitting on a barstool. The other costumers were on tables. Hoping that he was subtle, he began stealing long side-glances at her.

On stage, she was stunning, but up close, she was definitely breathtaking, not to mention, sexy as hell! Gabriel had to force himself to look to her face and to her face only, not to other certain tempting parts of her. This was proven difficult to do, considering she was wearing nothing but a small stringed bikini. Nervously, he gulped.

Hey. Haven’t seen you around. Are you new here?” Gabriel said, giving a small lopsided grin to cover up his nervousness . He had hoped she would talk to him, but she only gave him a fixed smile that gave him the impression that she was not in the mood for a conversation. Getting the hint, Gabriel nodded, mentally smacking himself for acting pathetically. Opting instead to stay quiet ‘til another costumer will come around or until she finishes her drink, he decided to study her as silently as he could.

Life at Safe Haven only seemed to be getting harder as time passed. Initially Rachel had assumed things would get easier, but the adjustment to isolation had not really been that hard for her. She had really been preparing for it her entire life. If anything, she was interacting more with her environment. Perhaps that could account for the increasing difficulties. It certainly put into perspective why she had avoided romance, motherhood, and even friendship for so long. The only person she had ever been able to maintain a healthy, balanced relationship with had been Iris. And that only because they were both so keen on science, and didn’t let silly things, like emotion, get in the way of things. They were both goal-oriented women, and worked hard to achieve what they put their minds to. They were the type who refused to fail, and in so doing ended up failing in the areas that defined them as humans. Iris less so, and Rachel was struggling with the idea that maybe it was just her. She admired and respected Iris greatly for her intelligence, but hated to think she was capable of normalcy, in the midst of their work. It would mean she was a much more accomplished woman than Rachel. And perhaps that was why Rachel convinced herself so easily that her inabilities weren’t her fault.

Needless-to-say, playing caregiver, while keeping the greatest secret of their new lives form them, created a desire within her that refused to be satisfied, no matter how many times she escaped. Such was an attempt now, as Rachel exited the confining walls and made her way down to the docks. It did not take long before her eyes focused on one of the most recent problems to enter her life. She half considered turning back. She had forced herself to put him out of her mind every time it tried to give him a second thought since she had allowed him to stay. But the sense of his presence had refused to be shoved aside. Her being had been ill at ease since the moment she had encountered the devilishly alluring Scot. Her body protested her mind’s desire to avoid him, and her feet won out on delivering her to his location. She seemed almost bitter when she arrived, as though they had a lingering argument, yet to be resolved. As the only fight seemed to be going on within her, she was obligated to greet him with a smile, more of a grimace really, and she asked, “How are you getting along? Satisfied with your accommodations?” She realized she hadn’t met her eyes, so she raised them to his. Her body went weak for a moment, but when she shifted her weight onto one leg, she managed a level of calm.

Kate struck a chord with her initial response. While Rachel had easily dismissed the encounter between them, assigning Kate as the ultimate initiator, she had conveniently forgotten that she had indeed pulled Kate back that night. The reasons for letting herself fall into the fleeting moments of romance, though, had plagued her mind since. Though far from love or desire, there were undeniably passionate feelings towards Kate. Born of ambivalence for the nature of Kate’s person, Rachel could only imagine that she had tried to use sexuality to harness and control the likes of the young woman before her. If she could control Kate, she could control the last part of herself.

But Kate had mastered the attractive attributes of that personality, and Rachel hardly stood a chance trying to use the same against her. Especially when she had held it at bay for so long, and it was relatively in a state of infancy. This frustrated Rachel, to think submission would not be as easy as everything else to get from Kate. She rose up straight, infuriated at Kate’s lack of acknowledgement of what it took, to make the sort of decisions she did. She implied that they were the easiest to make, when really they could be the hardest. It took a moment to remember herself; she let out a loud sigh from her nostrils. “If I were truly a coward, I’d have let you leave. But I have a responsibility to you… and everyone else. Despite the grief you try to cause, I intend to live up to that.” She said sincerely. While Rachel could not be sure of the physical aura Kate was trying to give off, she looked quite juvenile against the base of a fig tree, with the book clutched to her chest. It was fitting, since Rachel had no problem treating her like a child.

Though most guys really would have felt awkward right off from how Edd was physically acting, Calvin did not. Since he had come to even resemble a man, he had had guys out right hitting on him. And while those guys had always made him uncomfortable, it was not until Edd reacted to his own actions that Calvin suspected him of anything. His brow knit slightly, as he muttered, “I wasn’t being shy.” In fact, if anyone was being shy, it was Edd.

Calvin let it go for the time being, as Edd proceeded to concern himself past Cal’s female interests, to simply how many friends he even had at Safe Haven. He grinned, making a mock defensive face, “I’ve got a few.” He let out a laugh. Just because he knew a few people, didn’t make them friends, “I’ve got a couple, at least.”

Though Edd had broken the previous train of thought, Calvin could not help but wonder about the way Edd was acting. His mind drifted to the accumulation of things he did and said, and when it came down to it, he wondered if Edd liked him. He waved the thought away to a lapse of narcissism. Nah. They were just friends.

Calvin could not help a breath catching in his throat as he took the mask. Despite having held it out to Leon, it still was one of hi most masterful creations. Needless-to-say, there was a little apprehension in handing it over to what he already judged to be a careless young man. Every inch of him seemed to exude his rebellious nature, but his naivety gave his youth away, and his unjustified ability to act a bad ass, in a safe environment.

Still, that didn’t make him an idiot. Calvin could sense a true appreciation for advanced technology. And who knew? Maybe with a little positive guidance, and a direction to go in, he might just turn out to be a swell young man.

Calvin grinned sardonically at Leon’s question. “Get a clue kid; what in your history books makes you think you’re safer than anyone else who faced prejudice in the past? There’s a new hunt on the horizon boy, and we’re the prey. Now, if that don’t make you want a strong defense, I don’t know what will.”

Calvin never saw the use of keeping people, especially youth, in the dark. He firmly believed that if people knew all the facts, it would be impossible for them to make the wrong decision. Not it was in Leon’s hands if he wanted to help and be protected… or run.

What we are: Just Met
Why: Liz ran into Leon in the training room after she walked in on him training. She doesn't consider him a close friend as of yet, although she has acknowledged that he was nice to her, and so likes him as an acquaintance. Maybe in the future a friendship will sprout?
What I'd call you: Liz
